For many of us, silver is family. Whether a single silver candlestick graced the table, or full place settings and suites of hollowware gleamed, silver recalls those magical early childhood days of awe seated at the formal table of holidays and celebration. Silver and its stories give us wings—as I imagine my beloved granddaughter Charlotte to have.  I am so aware of it now that I am a grandmother. I realize that so much that I want to teach is in our family silver and its stories—of hard work and thrift, of celebration and reward, of the many pieces for multiple generations that were given as wedding gifts, of seeking beauty and light and honoring the deepest comfort of family gathered at a formal table in love without end.

Love,
SiHi
